Tonight, we were honored to attend the Point’s Annual Grants Awards Meeting where we received their contribution of $ 3,200.00 to support our Team and its’ programs in 2022. The exciting part of the meeting was being recognized for our work along with other deserving non-profits in our community. It is such a humbling experience to stand with the other groups to listen as they explain their missions and the wonderful work they do. Other organizations recognized tonight were the Lowcountry Equine-Assisted Psychotherapy program, (L.E.A.P.), Our Lady of Mercy Community Outreach, Meals on Wheels, the MUSC Women’s Cancer Center, the Barrier Islands Free Medical Clinic, and the Water Wellness Mission who puts down wells for those who do not have running water in their homes on Wadmalaw Island. All these groups work every day to improve the lives of others with the Point’s support.
The Point is comprised of thirty-five women dedicated to raising money to support other women and associated charities in the Sea Island communities of Coastal Charleston. They hold multiple events throughout the year to raise money including a fishing tournament, their Barn Bash, and their annual oyster roast and chili cook-off while seeking support from businesses and others in the community. We are in awe of these amazing friends as they raised over $ 150,000.00 in 2021 to support all our programs.
