The lack of social contact and the isolation caused by this health crisis is beginning to take its’ toll on many folks. Honestly, I never realized how important it is to be able to shake someone’s hand, give them a hug, or otherwise interact with them on a social basis. Someone once told me that had never seen grown men hug like firefighters. It’s just part of our nature, the “brotherhood” if you will and, quite frankly, I miss it.
While looking for something positive out of this crisis, I realized that I have developed a greater appreciation for folks in my life. Not being able to see you and be in your presence is making things difficult for us and I look forward to when the situation improves. I also realize that I have taken far too many things and people for granted and I promise to you that lesson will help us all grow stronger in the future.
In order to provide continuing services to you and your families, we have joined with our clinicians to see that your needs are being met. Clinical services can now be provided by Telehealth or by phone consultation. Since many of you are experiencing downtime while on duty or maybe out-of-work and staying at home, this is a good time to practice better self-care.
Call us at 843-609-8300 and we will set up a therapist referral where they will contact you by phone and arrange an online phone appointment for you. This offer is for any of you regardless of where you are since physically being in the office is not necessary. Firefighters, EMS personnel, 911 telecommunicators, law enforcement officers, your family members, or anyone else are all welcome to use this resource. Call or contact us today and we will help you.
