In 2015, our Team responded to assist firefighters and EMS members after the loss of Firefighter Stewart Hardy in Beaufort County. While there we met Kim Seleen, a paramedic, who had responded to the call and was a close friend of Stewart. We became good friends and sometime later, Kim moved to Charleston County EMS where she works today. We knew from the beginning that she had a special talent of caring for others. We were blessed to have her become a part of our first EMS Support Team when she attended training with us in 2017. She is an amazing member of our Team, has provided support to many of her counterparts as a peer team member, and has traveled many times with us to lend her support to EMS members during troubled times in other parts of the state.
Some time ago, she shared her dream of becoming a nurse and has been in school for several years, attending day classes while continuing to work 12 hours night shifts on a medic unit. Well, this past week she graduated from nursing school and has achieved her dream of becoming a nurse!
Kim, congratulations from your teammates on our Firefighter, EMS, and 911 Telecommunicator Teams. Thank you for your commitment, your heart, your amazing smile, and your dedication to helping others. We are excited about when your next journey begins!
