We were pleased to have the Myrtle Beach Fire Department’s Recruit Class join us today in Charleston. They received our Behavioral Health Awareness training presentation that included an explanation of our program, its origin, and how it has developed in its fifteen-year history. Our discussion included how they can access peer support assistance from us as well as a referral to a clinician.
After our morning, we joined them for lunch and a tour of the Fire Museum. We completed the day by visiting the Charleston 9 Memorial Park and spending time telling them about our nine firefighters. It is always a special time when we can share with others the stories of these individuals and their families and how their sacrifices have contributed to so many improvements in fire safety, and firefighting in general. While we are pleased to host recruit classes often, this was the first class to visit the new Station 11 and see of the features of a modern fire station.
Many thanks to our MBFD friends for their visit and their attention today.
