On Thursday night, our Team participated in the introduction of a new program to help us better serve our emergency services personnel.  MindResponse, is a program developed by Amanda Custer, M.Ed., L.M.S.W., and uses dialectic behavioral therapy to help participants strengthen their mindfulness, interpersonal effectiveness, emotion regulation, and distress tolerance. It is specifically designed to support professional goals by changing behaviors, emotions, and thoughts that interfere with one’s performance, confidence, focus and communication.
Many thanks to Amanda who has been a part of our Team since its’ inception in 2007 as the Charleston Firefighter Support Team. She is now employed by The Middle Path, Inc. of Knoxville, Tennessee and more recently here in Charleston. We would also like to express our appreciation to Hope Reneau, the Executive Director of The Middle Path, Inc., for her support of this program development as well as all of our participants that attended.
