What an amazing ending to the week as we completed our very first EMS Peer Team Training in the Lowcountry. We are excited to now have thirteen members of Charleston County EMS, two members of Beaufort County EMS, one member of Dorchester County EMS, two members of our Lowcountry Firefighter Support Team and one member of the Consolidated 911 Communications Center’s Peer Team finish their training today. They are all poised to now carry the message of hope and helping to the members of their organizations and to other first responders in our community. We applaud them for their dedication to the cause and look forward to working with all of them in their roles.

Thanks to our instructors for today’s class to include Shane Bowers of the Coastal Crisis Chaplaincy, Sarah Gainey and Ava Webb of Strategies to Assist Valued Employees (S.A.V.E.), Sherie Corbett of the Healing Roots Behavioral Health Center, Chris Wells of the Trauma Initiative of SC Department of Mental Health, Amanda Custer and Ashley Lauderdale of the First Responder Assistance Program, and DeLynn Morgan, the Emergency Services Director for Charleston Mental Health Center. These outstanding instructors are the clinicians who support our Peer Team when we help those who need a higher level of care.

Special thanks to Chief Greg Bulanow and the men and women of the North Charleston Fire Department Station 2 for their support and hospitality in the use of their training room.
