One of our dear friends, Ashley Lauderdale, a clinician who works tirelessly for our first responders, shared a story with me a few months ago where she sought advice from her ailing mother about how she would take care of her family when she wasn’t here to advise her on the matters of life. Her mother assured her that she would be fine and when things were tough to just “be still”.

Ashley’s mother passed away last year and Ashley has since opened her own counseling office under the name of “Be Still” Counseling. We take many things to heart from all our clinicians who share their thoughts and their love to help us learn how to be better people and better teammates. Ashley’s mantra of just “Be Still” resonates with me every day, especially when I am struggling. The peace I feel in my heart and soul while practicing this mindfulness technique has changed my life and I have been blessed to watch many others as they too have learned to just “be still”.

So, to all of you as we head off into the New Year, take time for yourselves and take time to just “be still”. You may be amazed what you learn about yourself.
