Today, we were blessed to have a fire engine donated to be used by our Team in our outreach programs. Engine 210 of the Santee Circle Fire Department (and formerly Engine 33 of the Goose Creek Rural Fire Department), a 1976 Mack CF 600, will now roam the streets of the Lowcountry as part of our Team’s support of our firefighters and EMS personnel. While its days of laying hose and fighting fire are now over, it will help us bring happiness and comfort to those we serve. Whether appearing at a child’s (or maybe even an adult’s) birthday party, it will participate in parades, family reunions, transport the bride and groom in their wedding, show up at fire safety shows or public education events, and offering support to fire departments and families to transport a deceased firefighter to his/her final resting place.
Hopefully, for those of you that have ridden this old truck in your career will be reminded of your days of proudly being a part of its history. If any of you have a story to tell about this truck, please don’t hesitate to share it here in the comments. As always, we name our trucks to maintain a connection with their previous homes. For those of you that know its history, it will be called the “Road Runner“ and joins our 1976 American LaFrance known as “The Bullet” that served the North Charleston District and the C & B Fire Departments and our 1969 “Big John” Mack previously known as the “Blue Goose” that was previously owned and donated by the Old Fort Fire Department.
Our sincere appreciation goes to the Santee Circle Fire Department Board of Directors and Chief Bob Winn for this wonderful gift. We pledge to you to be good stewards of your gift to us.
