This week has been emotionally filled with training, meetings, peer responses, clinical referrals, and sadly, the loss of a good friend. Sometimes, we all get caught up in the rush and need a simple reminder of what is right in this world.

This morning, we were blessed to be visited by our little buddy, Sylas Walden. When he comes to the office, he quickly finds something to play with and he loves to have a snack with us. Sylas is the son of Kyle Walden of the Summerville FD and Bethany Walden of the Goose Creek City FD. He is the grandson of WVFD Chief Tim Stephenson, BCEMS Paramedic Laura Stephenson and, of course, the nephew of Michael Stephenson of Berkeley County 911. Wonder what this little guy will do when he grows up?

Well, I found out this morning that Sylas loves bananas. We had several left over from our breakfast and he decided he would take them home. I offered to pack them in a bag with some muffins and carry them to the car. Not a chance as he wouldn’t let them out of his sight. So, he carried and drug the bag out the door to be enjoyed later. Thanks, little man, for helping me remember the simple pleasures in life. You are already making a big difference in this old man’s heart! Poppa G
