Some days we get to participate in some really fun stuff and today was one of those days.  We were invited by “The Bear Project” of the Fort Dorchester High School to visit with them where they presented us with teddy bears handmade by them to be given to children in crisis.  This project started three years ago and many FDHS students have participated in making these bears.  They have been providing them to MUSC Children’s Hospital, Roper Hospital and the Hollings Cancer Center to be given to children hospitalized in those places.

Since the kids have had a banner year so far, making 184 to date, they chose to share them with us where we will ask our local firefighters to keep them on their trucks to be given to children in crisis during their fire and medical responses.  Thanks to their teacher/sponsor, Michelle Barnum, and to each and every one of the project members for making us a partner in this project.  We look forward to seeing the smiles of the children we will help.
