Today was an exciting day as our “Big John” truck returned home after a two month stay in the maintenance shop. “Big John” has a special place in our Team after being restored in 2012 as a tribute to our brother, John Winn, Sr..

John succumbed to Mesothelioma in May 2012 after a 34-year career in the Charleston Fire Department. He was an amazing guy, respected by all who knew him, and a beloved member of our Team. We pledged to John to maintain “Big John” as a part of his legacy in hopes of preventing other firefighters from health problems, like his, that took him from us.

Since “Big John” is a 51-year-old truck, keeping it road worthy is sometimes quite a chore. Thanks to Buzz Varella and his crew at the Hanahan Auto and Truck Service, it stands ready for duty once again. We couldn’t be happier than to have it cleaned up and back in the house!
