Today, our Team Leader, David Reindollar, and Lee Hopkins, our Pee Dee Region Coordinator, traveled up to Lancaster County, South Carolina to present our Team’s “Step Up & Step Out” Suicide Awareness and Prevention program to 28 personnel of the Lancaster County Public Safety 911 Center.  David and Lee also shared information on online resources available to them through the Center for Firefighter Behavioral Health and the helping-heroes.org and the pocketpeer.org links.  They completed the class by sharing information on our “Operation Zzz” initiative as we plan to provide them with weighted anti-anxiety lap blankets for their 911 Center soon.

David and Lee were welcomed by their folks in the comfort of a pleasant classroom providing a great learning environment.  We first met many of these folks in a training meeting last Fall in Columbia for the South Carolina Public Safety Chaplain’s Association where we introduced them to our new “Step Up & Step Out” initiative.   That led to an invitation to bring this program to them in Lancaster County. A great example why we should always take advantage of other training opportunities to network with other agencies.

Thanks to all our Lancaster County friends who participated today and to our guys for making it happen!
