Tonight, we reach another milestone in the life of one of our beloved friends and team members. Kimberly Seleen is concluding her career with Charleston County EMS to become a full time nurse, a career she has prepared for over many years, going to school during the day and working 12 hour shifts at night with EMS. Kim was one of the first members of our Lowcountry EMS Support Team when she joined 16 other members of the original Team in 2017. She has served with an amazing dedication to help her peers who “ride the box” during difficult times. In other times, when we have mounted a combined response of our firefighter, EMS, and 911 Telecommunicator Teams, Kim has always represented our EMS Team with great compassion and professionalism. She is respected by all of her peers on our Team. This photo is of Kim when our Team visited one of our partner equine farms to work with horses specially trained to help those with PTSD.  And, if I may share a personal thought, I met Kim in 2015 during a very difficult time for us all, the loss of a brother. I must say, as I watched her over the years, I have thought of her more as a daughter as we have supported one another during some troubling times. She has had a plan for awhile to be a great paramedic with her eyes set on becoming a nurse. I never doubted, not one single time, that she would succeed and tonight marks her transition. Please join us as we wish her the very best life can bring.
