One of our most enjoyable experiences on our Team is working with recruit classes. Many times, they come from their own departments to spend the day with us and sometimes we go to them.

Recently,  I spent some time with the 22 new members of the Charleston Fire Department as they prepare for their graduation.  After many months of training they are heading into the various companies in the CFD. Tomorrow, they will celebrate their success with each other and with their family and friends as they graduate and get their badges and name tags. I couldn’t help but think back to the early days of my own career when I received my first badge and joined the ranks of the fire department. I hope they understand what a gift it is to be a part of the Fire Service. They have certainly earned their places.

We are proud to be able to offer all of them and their families behavioral health support as they begin their careers and look forward to seeing them again.
