On Wednesday night, we attended the annual meeting of “The Point” Women’s Group on the Sea Islands of Charleston. This amazing group of women work all year long hosting fundraisers and events to raise money to support non-profits that benefit women. In November of each year, selected non-profit organizations are invited to share information with the members in hopes of receiving a grant to support their causes.
Each year, we are excited to tell of our mission and to listen to the many other organizations who do wonderful work in our community to support those in need. Since our Team serves women in the emergency services community to include firefighters, EMS personnel, 911 telecommunicators, and law enforcement officers, we were pleased to share the benefits of our ”Operation Zzz” weighted blanket program. Currently, we are providing 165 of our handmade blankets to first responders with 109 of them given to women in our ranks.
The most satisfying benefit of this attending this event is the networking that has occurred over the years with the many non-profits who compete each year. Our Team has grown stronger due to our relationships with these organizations as we have discovered services they offer that benefit our emergency services families.
Please support “The Point” as they support all of us. You can start by attending their annual Oyster Roastand Chili Cook-Off this Sunday, November 18th, from noon until 5 p.m., at 2414 Rockland Avenue, Wadmalaw Island overlooking the Wadmalaw Sound. The weather should be great and the atmosphere will be perfect for oysters and chili. We hope to see you there!
