This week, we will observe the twelfth anniversary of the loss of nine Charleston firefighters in the Sofa Super Store fire.  This tragedy led to much change in the Fire Service of our nation that has improved safety and wellness of our firefighters. Many changes have come about due to the sacrifice of these good men.  While it has been a difficulty journey for their families and for us all, it is imperative that we continue to honor the memories of these men as a tribute to their legacies. We can best do that by taking care of each other and taking care of ourselves.  We can accomplish that by attending the Memorial, taking a drive or a walk, or simply taking time to be with our families and those we love.  I’m sure that would be their wish for you.
