Today was a special day as we held our monthly First Responder Support Group meeting and breakfast at our offices in North Charleston. After the threat of a hurricane, people working multiple shifts, being away from their families for extended hours, and generally experiencing the anxiety that comes with it all, it was good to just sit, talk, and provide support to one another. Add the observance of September 11th to remember all those who lost their lives in the WTC attacks and it has been a long two weeks.

Today we joined together firefighters, EMS personnel, chaplains, and law enforcement to host a broad spectrum of those who make up the first responder world. While we come from different cultures in our professions, we suffer the same hurt, experience the anxiety and just need a place to talk sometimes.

Today we had that place. I wish for all who read this in the emergency services world to give us a try. We meet the second Thursday of every month at 9:00 a.m. and it is open to all emergency services personnel, active duty, retired or former, AND their families and friends who support them. Come spend an hour with us in fellowship and support. We would love to see you there.
