For quite a few months, we have been trying to add a Mack CF Aerialscope truck to our fleet. We had been looking at a 1983 model owned by Chief Robert Plaxico and our friends of the Joanna Fire Department in Laurens County, SC.  Since all our trucks are owned by individuals on our Team, it was necessary to figure out how best we could accomplish getting a ‘Scope.  We have three CF Mack pumpers on our Team, one of which came from the Joanna Fire Department.  Chief Plaxico called us this week to tell us that, much to our dismay, he had sold his Aerialscope to someone in the upper part of the State.  But he said the buyer of the ‘Scope really wanted a CF pumper and might be willing to trade it for one of our trucks. So yesterday, David Reindollar and his son Dawson drove his New York pumper up to Orangeburg and met John Carter and the Aerialscope to bring it back to our Team.

Another part of the story is that since we moved our offices into the old North Charleston Station 5 on Dorchester Road, we have worked diligently to put the nostalgia back into the station.  In its’ heyday Station 5 housed a CF Pumper and a CF Mack Aerialscope.  It has been our wish for some time to recreate the station as it once was to honor the men and women of the NCFD that worked there so many years.  Today, that wish became a reality and we couldn’t be more excited.  So, stop by when you have a chance and look the old trucks over.

Special thanks to our Team Leader, David Reindollar, for making this possible with the trade of one of his other trucks, and to our pit crew, Dawson Reindollar, and Todd and Kelly Musselman who joined David today in giving the old truck a first-class cleanup and detailing. Also, thanks to Chief Robert Plaxico and John Carter for helping make this possible.  Later this week, Laura and Nick of Signs ASAP in Summerville will work their magic to add the graphics with our Team’s distinct lettering and decals and it will be ready for Fire Safety Week and all the other events that come In the Fall of the year.
