The Point is a women’s non-profit organization on the Sea Islands of the Lowcountry dedicated to supporting local groups in the Low country that focus on the needs of less fortunate women and children, those suffering the anguish of ill health, and those who are striving to repair the structure of their family. The Point offers financial support to the community by coordinating fundraising events and providing service by volunteering their time and talents. From its members, The Point requires participation, dedication, and desire, and in return provides fellowship, fun, and flexibility while responding to the needs of organizations and individuals in crisis.
These ladies have supported our Team for many years, and we are fortunate to call them our friends. They hold various events during the year including an oyster roast and chili cook-off, a fishing tournament, special dinners, and other events to raise money to assist the many organizations helped by them. In 2019, they raised $ 100,000.00 to support the community!
In addition to our Lowcountry Firefighter Support Team, this year’s benefactors will be the Hollings Cancer Center, the Barrier Island Free Medical Clinic, the Blessing Basket, Meals on Wheels, Lowcountry Equine-Assisted Psychotherapy, and Our Lady of Mercy. We are honored to be included in such an amazing list of charitable organizations.
Tonight, our Executive Director Gerald Mishoe attended a meeting to thank them for their contribution of $ 6,600.00 to support on Team. This contribution sets the bar high for us and creates many opportunities to advance our work. Thank you, Ladies!!
