We traveled up the coast today to visit our friends of the Myrtle Beach 911 Center and the Georgetown County 911 Center. We were pleased to gift them with our “Operation Zzz” weighted lap blankets to help alleviate anxiety when they are handling difficult calls.

Many folks simply don’t understand the challenges our 911 telecommunicators experience on a daily basis while receiving phone calls and dispatching our firefighters, medic units and our law enforcement officers. Suicides, infant cardiac arrests, tragic vehicle accidents, and citizens trapped in a fire are all possibilities for our dispatchers as they hear the pleas for help on the phone. They are the nerve center of any and all emergency responses in our communities and they are greatly appreciated.

This photo shows our Pee Dee Region Coordinator Lee Hopkins and our Executive Director Gerald Mishoe presenting two blankets to our Myrtle Beach friends.
